SUSQUEHANNA FOUNDATION FOR THE BLIND and SUSQUEHANNA ASSOCIATION FOR THE BLIND AND VISION IMPAIRED ANNOUNCE SPEAKER FOR ANNUAL MEETING AND DINNER
LANCASTER, October 22, 2008 - The Susquehanna Foundation for the Blind and Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired (SABVI) are proud to announce the speaker for their 2008 Annual Meeting and Dinner. Renowned competitor Rachael Scdoris is the first legally blind athlete to finish the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. She will be sharing her challenges and triumphs with our friends and supporters on Monday, November 10, at the Hamilton Club, Lancaster Pa. Scdoris defied the odds and in 2006 became the first blind athlete to compete in and complete the difficult and dangerous Iditarod, a sled dog race covering more than 1000 miles of treacherous Alaskan terrain. Every day, Rachael reaches beyond what others consider an impairment, and achieves her dreams despite severe vision loss. A video of Scdoris can be seen online at http://current.com/items/89333981_blind_iditarod_racer This year’s meeting will be nothing short of inspirational, and the public is invited to attend. The evening includes a three-course meal, Scdoris’ presentation and valet parking. Tickets are $50 per person. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling 717.393.5894 no later than Friday, October 31, 2008.
